Japan is living in 2050.

Incredible invention in McDonald’s.

Japan is renowned for its cutting-edge technology and constant innovation. However, a recent discovery, at a McDonald’s restaurant has left people astounded. A viral video shared on Twitter showcases a feature in the restroom—a sink equipped with a slot that utilizes ultraviolet rays and a hydrological cycle system to disinfect smartphones. Known as WOSH this device can thoroughly sanitize a phone within 30 seconds effectively eliminating 99.9% of bacteria and viruses.

The video, posted by an individual named Sho Sawada has been widely circulated online. In their caption, Sho expresses amazement at how McDonald’s offers not only hand-washing facilities but also smartphone sanitization stations. The footage demonstrates how users insert their phones into the designated slot, which then automatically lowers and covers the device with a lid. A subtle flash of light within the apparatus indicates that the disinfection process is initiated. After 30 seconds the phone is slowly ejected from the slot completely sanitized and ready for use again.

WOSH was developed by WOTA, a company specializing in water recycling and purification systems. Their website reveals that this remarkable technology utilizes patented methods to mimic nature’s water cycle efficiently—reusing, over 98% of the water it consumes while ensuring functionality.
The device also utilizes highly effective lights to kill germs to sanitize the phone without causing any harm.
The company claims that WOSH can be installed in any public place including restaurants, hotels, airports, schools, and offices, so it can provide a convenient and hygienic way to clean our smartphones. According to the company, devices like WOSH could help prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19, which can be transmitted by contaminated surfaces.

After watching the video, plenty of folks praised the device and Japan’s futuristic tech. Some said the country should bring it to other nations — specifically to their country after one person simply wrote: “I want it.” Regardless, that’s not likely to happen shortly. ELECOM says that while it’s still accepting orders for WOSH, it won’t begin shipping out units until July.
